DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Ninja 650 that Kawasaki launched for 2017 was a new design, built around a lighter trellis frame, and it soon became a popular choice for A2 riders and for a first bigger bike. Riders who take it to a circuit face a practical question early on: bring fuel from home, or buy it on site? Accossato lists the FC126 for the Ninja 650 of 2017 to 2024, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium, with a pin in one of six colours on its quick-closing pawl.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Ninja 650, 2017 to 2024
  • Accossato lists the ABS models of 2017 to 2022 and the 2023 and 2024 bikes
  • Body machined entirely from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl
  • Pin in blue, black, green, silver, red or gold
  • Spare pawl sold separately
  • No German ABE documented; for the circuit

Construction and Material Quality

The FC126 is aluminium through and through, CNC-machined, and Accossato says it is robust and durable; the design is new. A quick-closing pawl gives fast access to the Ninja 650's tank and closes it again straight away, and its pin comes in whichever of six colours you pick. Accossato sells the pawl separately as well, so damage to it does not mean replacing the cap.

Buying Fuel at the Circuit

Many circuits have a fuel pump on site, and some sell fuel from the paddock office or from a tanker on track days. It is convenient, but it pays to plan around it. Queues form at the moments when everyone needs fuel, at lunch and after the last morning session, so fill your can early while the pump is quiet. Ask which grade is on offer and use the one Kawasaki specifies in the Ninja 650's owner's manual; a track day is no time to experiment with unfamiliar fuel. Card machines at circuits do fail now and then, so a little cash is useful. Carry the can back upright and closed, stand it in the shade and refuel only when the engine has been switched off for a few minutes. Then close the FC126's pawl, check the cap and put the can away. On a busy day, this small plan keeps you out of the queue while your group heads out on track.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FC126 for the EX 650 Ninja with ABS from 2017 to 2022 and for the 2023 and 2024 bikes, so this product covers 2017 to 2024. The Ninja 400 and the Versys 650 are among the bikes that use the same cap. Please compare your Ninja 650 with Accossato's list before ordering.

Road Approval

For the FC126 neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate is documented, so it is sold for track use. On the road, keep the Ninja 650's standard cap fitted; it usually locks with the ignition key.
