DescriptionThe whole story▼
Track builders like to put a jump straight after a slow corner, because it separates riders who can drive out of a turn from those who cannot. On the KTM 150 SX, a light motocross two-stroke with a little more pull than a 125 but the same appetite for revs, clearing such a jump depends on the clutch. Accossato makes the C7283 for this bike, model years 2016 to 2022: a clutch lever machined from solid Ergal 7075, with a blade long enough for four fingers and hinged so that it can fold away in a crash.
Key Features
- Clutch lever with folding blade for the KTM 150 SX, 2016 to 2022
- Mounts in place of the stock lever on the original clutch fitting
- Four-finger blade, longer than Accossato's brake lever
- Anti-break joint: a knock can swing the blade forward instead of snapping it
- Produced in Italy by CNC machining from solid Ergal 7075
- Four blade colours, black, blue, orange or red, on a dark base
- No documented German ABE; for motocross and closed tracks
Construction and Material Quality
The C7283 is not cast. Accossato takes solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy valued for its strength, and machines the lever out of it on CNC equipment in Italy, aiming for a part that is robust, dependable and light. What comes out is a pair of components. The base, dark in colour, mounts on the pivot of the clutch fitting and holds the joint; the blade hangs from it in black, blue, orange or red. For the clutch, Accossato makes the blade long enough for all four fingers to pull together.
A Double Straight After the Turn
The run-up to a double off a tight turn is short, sometimes only a few bike lengths, and the bike has to reach the take-off with enough speed to clear the gap. On a small two-stroke that means the engine must be revving hard as it leaves the corner. Riders come off the brakes, turn with the throttle already cracked open and fan the clutch, feeding it in so the revs rise into the strong part of the power while the rear wheel keeps driving. Get it right and the 150 SX lands cleanly on the far side. Get it wrong and the landing comes up short, which is hard on the bike and harder on the rider.
Practising such jumps means repeating the same corner many times, and some of those attempts end in the dirt: a front wheel that washes out in the turn, a stall as the clutch goes out, a casing that throws the rider off. When the 150 SX lands on its left side, the clutch lever takes the impact, and a solid blade can snap there and send the rider home early. The C7283's blade sits on a joint and can fold forward under such a knock. That is no promise that it survives, but it gives a practice day a better chance of lasting as long as planned.
Fitment and Compatibility
On the KTM 150 SX, Accossato matches the C7283 to model years 2016 to 2022, where it takes the place of the standard lever at the original clutch fitting. Older bikes are covered by the C7284, listed from 2009 to 2015. The right-hand side is served by the B8283 folding brake lever, listed from 2014 to 2022 in black, blue or orange; the C7283 adds red as a fourth colour.
Road Approval
The C7283 carries no documented German ABE. It is meant for motocross circuits and closed off-road ground, where the 150 SX is raced.
