DescriptionThe whole story▼
GasGas grew up with trials, and its enduro bikes have always attracted riders who like to borrow trials techniques. One of the most useful in tight hard-enduro terrain is the front-wheel pivot: stop, hold the front brake, and swing the rear of the bike round on the front wheel to change direction where there is no room to turn. On a GasGas EC 300 the move depends entirely on the right hand. Accossato's B8206, listed for the EC 300 from 2003 to 2019, is a folding brake lever machined from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the GasGas EC 300 two-stroke
- Accossato lists it for model years 2003 to 2019
- Replaces the original lever on the stock front brake master cylinder
- Short, three-finger blade
- Anti-break joint, in Accossato's words, lets the blade fold forward in a fall
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, gold or red; dark base
- No German ABE on file; off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
A pivot turn asks the rider to hold the front brake hard with part of the hand while the rest keeps control of the bar, and a three-finger lever such as the B8206 suits that well. It is milled from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, on CNC machines in Italy, and Accossato wants the result to be strong, light and reliable. It is built in two parts: a dark base on the master cylinder pivot and a blade in the colour you choose, linked by a folding joint.
Turning on the Front Wheel
The pivot turn looks like a trick, but in a narrow gully or between two boulders it is often the only way round. The rider brings the bike to a stop on the front brake, holds it hard and shifts weight forward while hopping or pushing the rear sideways. The rear wheel swings through an arc around the locked front, and once it faces the new direction the rider lets go of the brake and rides on. On the EC 300, practised riders do it in a second. Beginners fall over, often several times.
Those falls are slow but frequent, and the bike can go down to either side. When it drops to the right with the front brake squeezed hard, the lever meets the ground under load. A solid blade can bend or snap in that moment. The B8206 can instead let its blade hinge forward, which improves the odds that the practice session continues with a working brake. It is not a certainty, and a rock in the wrong place can still break it, but for a technique learnt by falling it is a reasonable precaution.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8206 for the GasGas EC 300 across 2003 to 2019, naming both the EC 300 and the EC 300 2T among its versions. GasGas built no 2016 model, so in practice the lever covers the Spanish-built bikes up to 2015 and the bikes of 2017 to 2019 from the Torrot period. On the bike it takes over from the stock lever at the original front brake master cylinder. Two clutch levers go with it depending on the year: the C7283 for 2003 to 2015 and the C7284 for 2012 to 2013 and 2018 to 2019.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on record for the B8206. On a road-registered EC 300 it is not approved for public roads; it is meant for off-road riding and competition.
