Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Ducati SuperSport 939 / S (2017–2020) CM61S

The SuperSport is the faired bike in this family, and a fairing changes the environment the airbox lives in. Enclosed bodywork means less air moving around the intake and more heat retained under it, particularly in traffic on a summer day. That is the condition in which oiled filters cause trouble, because heat is what mobilises the film and sends it downstream. The Sprint Filter P08 CM61S has no oil in it at all — it filters with a dry polyester weave of roughly double the surface area instead.

Heat is the variable nobody quotes

Filter specifications are written for a workshop, not for a faired bike sitting in traffic with a hot 937 cc twin underneath it. Under those conditions an oiled cotton element is at its most vulnerable and a hot-film sensor is at its most exposed. A dry medium simply does not participate: there is nothing to soften, nothing to travel, and no re-oiling step in which too much can be applied.

One element, both versions

The base SuperSport and the S with its Öhlins suspension and quickshifter share an airbox, and CM61S also covers the Hypermotard and Hyperstrada families, the Monster range and the Scrambler — twenty-four Ducati models in total.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry.
