A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable.

Why the Original

The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. The part number is the contract: it defines material, dimension and finish together. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.

Getting the Number Right

21018-21 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. Öhlins states dimension a 6.2 mm, dimension b 30 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Twin-tube pistons have separate paths for compression and rebound, which is the whole point of the design. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 21018-21

Category: Piston Bands

Dimension A: 6.2 mm

Dimension B: 30 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/21018-21_42a925a9-53f4-4961-8792-c12eb919bfd9.png?v=1788876877
