DescriptionThe whole story▼

- Wired for the I2M dashboard
- Left-hand switch block
- CNC-machined from solid
- Black anodised Ergal 7075
- Military-specification sealed elements
Signals Go to the Dash
The inputs from this block are read by the I2M unit rather than by Ducati's electronics. What each button does is written in that system's configuration file.
A Road Dashboard Cannot Be Rewritten
That is the entire reason teams replace them. The factory display shows what Ducati decided it should show, at the rate Ducati chose, and no amount of persuasion changes either.
The Loom Is the Expensive Part
People assume the dashboard is. In practice a racing harness costs more in labour than the electronics cost in parts, and this block is the last thing to be plugged into it.
A Lap Marker on the Bar
Most teams assign one button to segment timing so the rider can flag a change mid-session. It is pressed at speed, in gloves, with the eyes entirely elsewhere.
Black Anodised
On a race bike the finish is chosen for how it survives cleaning and repeated handling. Appearance on a paddock stand is nobody's criterion.
Military-Specification Elements
Sealed considerably beyond road requirement. Between the wash bay and a damp van, competition switchgear meets more water in a season than a road bike does in five years.
Nine Years of Development
The 1199's engine architecture was raced from 2012 onward and privateers are still campaigning them. There is a great deal of accumulated knowledge behind a well-sorted example.
A Frameless Chassis
The airbox carries load between the headstock and the engine. It made the 1199 remarkably light and it makes a racing loom considerably harder to route than usual.
Cut From Solid
A race bike is stripped between rounds. A machined body tolerates that indefinitely where a clipped moulded one stops sitting tightly after a handful of rebuilds.
