DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 025 settles the Street Triple 675's sidestand question so nothing cuts out with a gear engaged.
Key Features
- Triumph Street Triple 675 (2007–2016)
- Satisfies the sidestand input
- No warning on the instrument panel
- Plugs into Triumph's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard switch refits at any time
A Hundred and Six Horsepower
From 675 cc, which was enough to embarrass a great many larger machines on a road with corners in it.
The Class It Created
Before the Street Triple, a middleweight naked was a budget option. Afterwards it was a category everybody had to contest.
An Intermittent Failure
A dying switch cuts the engine at a junction, behaves perfectly in the workshop and repeats a week later. It is among the least rewarding faults to chase.
What the Controller Sees
An open circuit, which it cannot distinguish from a deployed stand or a broken wire. All three produce the same behaviour.
Keep It on a Road Bike
With a stand still fitted, the interlock is doing real work. Disabling it turns an easy mistake into a locked rear wheel at a junction.
What the Manual Does Not Cover
Triumph documents the switch as a replaceable part and says nothing about what happens when the stand is removed entirely. The answer is that the engine stops in gear, which is exactly what the system is supposed to do.
Salt Finds It First
Everything low on the left of a motorcycle used through a European winter spends months in salt spray, and the sidestand switch is closer to the road than anything else electrical on the machine.
The Interlock Is Not Optional Equipment
It is part of the motorcycle's approval and part of what a buyer expects to work. Disabling it on a machine that still has a stand is a decision with consequences and it should be made deliberately rather than casually.
The Stand Comes Off First
On any preparation list it is the earliest job, and this part is what allows the rest of the list to be tested.
