DescriptionThe whole story▼
On an RSV4 the clutch is used hard out of slow corners and in the pit lane, and a lever with a vague bite point makes both awkward. The MPL sits on two ball bearings, which keeps the take-up in the same place every time, and its span can be set in three steps, the closest of them right up against the bar.
Key Features
- Folding lever, swings clear instead of breaking in a fall
- Double ball bearings instead of plain bushings, so the lever has no play
- Span adjustment: three positions, the closest one as near the handlebar as possible
- Coloured inserts at the lever end can be exchanged
- Interchangeable cable mounts marked 32, 34 and 36 change the lever ratio on cable-operated clutches
- Approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 (Gilles)
Types RK, KE and KE1
Gilles lists the RSV4 RR of 2015 to 2020 under these Aprilia type codes for this lever.
Changing the ratio
Three interchangeable cable mounts, marked 32, 34 and 36, alter the lever ratio on a cable-operated clutch and with it how quickly the clutch takes up.
Road Approval
Gilles lists the MPL levers as approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 and names the Aprilia RSV4 RR (KE, KE1, RK) in the fitment list for this number. The certificate is supplied with the lever and belongs with the vehicle papers. Gilles does not publish the document, so we do not quote its conditions here; if you need them before ordering, ask us and we will request the current wording.
Scope of Delivery
One Gilles MPL clutch lever, black anodised, with its coloured end insert. The matching brake lever is a separate item. The three cable mounts are part of the lever.
Fitting
The lever replaces the original one at the master cylinder, with the original pivot bolt and nut. Set the span, then check that the brake light switch and the free play behave as before and that the lever folds and returns by itself.
