DescriptionThe whole story▼
Arrow's Thunder slip-on silencer represents the Italian manufacturer's most visually striking design language, and the titanium-bodied 71701PK brings that heritage directly to the Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ15. Weighing just 1.83 kg, this silencer combines a raw, heat-tinted titanium canister with carbon end caps — a finish that signals racing provenance as clearly on the road as it does in the pit lane.
Key Features
- Full titanium canister construction: exceptional heat resistance, natural corrosion immunity, and a weight of only 1.83 kg for sharper throttle response and improved handling balance.
- Carbon end caps add a high-grade aesthetic accent that complements the titanium body and endures the thermal cycling of hard track or road use.
- Stainless steel internal components ensure consistent performance and long service life regardless of conditions.
- Removable dB killer included, allowing road-legal noise compliance when required without a permanent performance compromise.
- 270 mm canister length and precisely engineered 54 mm inlet / 50 mm outlet diameters are optimised for the R6 RJ15's exhaust flow characteristics.
- Arrow recommends pairing with a dedicated ECU map to fully unlock throttle response and power delivery on the RJ15 platform.
Design, Finish and Heritage
Arrow has been manufacturing exhaust systems in Cherasco, northern Italy since 1976, and the Thunder series distils decades of racing development into a product line distinguished by its uncompromising material choices. The 71701PK wears its titanium construction openly — there is no paint or coating masking the canister surface. As the silencer heats through a hard session, the titanium develops its characteristic blue-gold iridescence, a finish that cannot be replicated artificially and that deepens with use. The carbon fibre end cap provides a deliberate visual contrast: dark, structured weave against the bright metallic canister. This is an exhaust system that earns its appearance through what it is made from, not through cosmetic additions.
Performance and Build Quality
At 1.83 kg the Thunder titanium sits well below the weight of the OEM silencer, and that mass reduction is felt directly at the rear of the motorcycle — reducing unsprung and high-mounted weight improves the YZF-R6's already exceptional chassis dynamics. The stainless steel internals are selected for their durability under the sustained high temperatures generated by the R6's inline-four, maintaining packing integrity and sound character across a long service life. The inlet diameter of 54 mm and outlet of 50 mm have been developed in Arrow's own testing programme specifically for the RJ15 engine specification, ensuring the gas flow transition from header to silencer is as efficient as the design allows.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Arrow Thunder 71701PK is designed exclusively for use with Arrow's own header pipes. It is not compatible with the original Yamaha header or aftermarket headers from other brands. The correct Arrow header must be selected according to model year:
- Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ15 (2008-2011): Arrow header 71378MI
- Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ15 (2012-2016): Arrow header 71473MI
The headers listed above are sold separately and are not included with this silencer. Fitting without the correct Arrow header will result in an improper seal and is not supported.
