DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Brutale 1090 R made from 2012 to 2015 is often bought as a fast, comfortable naked for long weekends away. This front set in Sintered (ST) compound suits that owner: someone who rides into the hills with a bag strapped on, gets caught in showers and wants the front brake of the MV Agusta to respond the same way on a cold wet morning as on a hot afternoon in the mountains.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) front pads for the MV Agusta Brutale 1090 R
  • Catalogued for 2012 to 2015
  • Holds grip in the wet, according to Accossato
  • Even feel whether the pads are cold or hot
  • A match for touring with a passenger
  • Box contains two pads for one caliper

Construction and Material Quality

In Accossato's words, this Sintered compound maintains a high and constant grip level across low and high temperatures and keeps gripping when the road is wet. That makes it a mixture built around predictability rather than peak aggression. The maker's broader aims apply here too: pads that last, that avoid overheating and therefore fading, and that stop the bike with authority. Based today in Villastellone near Turin, the company offers the same pad shape in several mixtures.

Weekends Away on the 1090 R

Picture a two-day loop across several passes, a passenger behind you and a change of weather halfway. Descending on a damp road you need to trust the front lever, and when the sun returns you need the same trust at higher speed. That is the kind of use this pad is aimed at. It also suits riders who keep the Brutale 1090 R registered through the winter and ride on gritty, salted roads when others have put their bikes away. For other priorities, the same pad comes as OR, EV1, EV2 or ZXC.

Workshop Notes

Replace the pads in both front calipers together, clean the pistons before retracting them, and inspect the discs for wear or scoring. Keep the braking surface free of grease, top up or renew the fluid if it looks dark, and pump the lever before moving the bike. Bed in with progressive stops.

Fitment and Compatibility

This listing covers the MV Agusta Brutale 1090 R from 2012 to 2015, front brake. Other Brutale 1090 versions such as the RR use AGPA106 at the front, so be sure of your model. The rear of the Brutale 1090 takes AGPA118, and Accossato also lists disc DKS020. As the bike runs twin front calipers, plan on two boxes.

Road Approval

Approval documents for road use, such as an ABE or test mark, have not been supplied to us. These pads are therefore designated for racing and competition purposes.

Scope of Delivery

Two friction pads in a single box, sufficient for one caliper. Fitting hardware is not included.
