DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Scrambler 1100 brought the big air-cooled Ducati twin into the Scrambler family for 2018, together with riding modes and traction control, and later grew into the Pro, the Dark Pro and the Tribute Pro. Most owners ride it on the road, yet a circuit day or a closed-course training session is a popular way of finding out what the bike can do. Air cooling brings one particular point to keep in mind whenever fuel is handled. Accossato's FC105, a quick-release tank cap milled from aluminium, is listed for the Scrambler 1100 of 2018 to 2023.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Scrambler 1100, 2018 to 2023
- Listed for the 1100, the Pro, the Dark Pro and the Tribute Pro
- Made entirely from CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl available as a spare part
- No German ABE on record; for closed courses
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium, CNC-machined throughout, is what Accossato makes the FC105 from, and the company rates the cap as robust and durable. Its design is new, and the quick-closing pawl means the tank of the Scrambler 1100 opens and closes without delay. The pawl's pin is the colour you choose, one of six. If the pawl is damaged, Accossato sells it on its own, and the cap stays in service.
Hot Cylinders Below the Tank
On a liquid-cooled bike, much of the engine hides behind radiators and covers. The Scrambler 1100 is different: its air-cooled cylinders sit out in the open beneath the tank, finned and bare, and after a few laps they are very hot. That is part of the bike's charm, but it changes how carefully fuel has to be handled. Any petrol that overflows from the filler or runs down the side of the tank can reach hot metal within seconds. So refuel the Scrambler 1100 only after switching off and giving the engine a few minutes, pour slowly through a funnel with a long spout, and stop well short of the top of the neck, because fuel expands as it warms. Hold a cloth under the filler while you pour and take it away afterwards instead of leaving it on the tank. Changing the cap itself is a job for a completely cold engine, which in practice means doing it at home or first thing in the morning.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC105 for the Scrambler 1100 from 2018 to 2023: the original 1100 of 2018 and 2019, the Pro from 2020 to 2022, the Dark Pro from 2021 to 2023 and the Tribute Pro of 2022 and 2023. The same cap appears in our range for the Scrambler 1100 Special, the DesertX and the Diavel. Checking your bike against the application list before ordering avoids surprises. As explained above, the swap itself waits for a cold engine; afterwards, a dry rim shows that the seal has seated.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no expert report are documented for this cap, which we therefore sell for track use. The Scrambler's original cap normally opens with the ignition key and stays on for the road; this cap cannot simply replace it there.
