DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Speed Triple 1050 is a naked bike you ride with your whole body. With no fairing in front of you, every change of speed is felt directly, and hard braking pushes the upper body towards the bars unless the legs hold it back. Accossato's EDF099 brake lever for the Speed Triple 1050, listed from 2010 to 2020, is machined from aluminium and offers an adjustable reach and three blade lengths, so the hand on the lever can stay light while the legs do the holding.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Speed Triple 1050, 2010 to 2020
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Distance to the grip adjustable
  • Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long versions
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, blade colour of your choice
  • Fixed, no folding joint
  • Own Accossato box

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato is based today in Villastellone near Turin, in a plant equipped with CNC machining and forging presses. The EDF099 is machined from aluminium and anodised, black on the hub and coloured on the blade: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. It is a fixed lever, with no folding joint between hub and tip, which gives the front brake of the Speed Triple a direct connection to your fingers. The anodised finish copes well with the weather that an unfaired cockpit is exposed to.

Knees on the Tank, Fingers on the Lever

The more your arms have to hold, the less precise your hands become. When you brake hard on the Speed Triple 1050, the deceleration pushes you forward, and if the arms take that load they stiffen, the grip on the bar tightens and fine control at the lever is gone. The better technique is to squeeze the tank with your knees and let the legs and core carry the body, leaving the arms relaxed and the fingers free to meter the brake. The lever then needs to be where relaxed fingers fall naturally. Set the EDF099's reach so that the blade meets your fingers when your hand rests loosely on the grip. The standard blade suits most riders; the short one, made in gold, blue, silver, green and orange, is there for two-finger braking, and the long blade in orange, blue, gold and green for riders who brake with the whole hand.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF099 for the Speed Triple 1050 from 2010 to 2020, with entries for the 2010 bike, the model revised for 2011 and the updated version from 2016. On the clutch side the picture is split: the EST333 is offered for 2005 to 2016 and the EST333P for 2016 to 2020, so 2016 bikes should be checked against the product photos. The brake lever replaces the stock blade on the original master cylinder.

Road Approval

This brake lever is sold for the track: there is no documented German ABE for it.
