DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1290 Super Adventure S is a road-oriented version of KTM's big travel enduro: a fast, comfortable machine for covering long distances on roads you have never ridden before. Unfamiliar roads bring blind junctions, farm exits and villages where anything may appear, and many experienced riders keep two fingers resting on the front brake lever through such places. The Accossato EDD001 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the 1290 Super Adventure S, listed from 2017 to 2020, with a reach you can set to make that easier.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, 2017 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable so that resting fingers do not drag the brake
- Short blade in five colours for two-finger braking
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm, long blade in four colours
- Anodised aluminium, CNC-machined, black hub
- Fixed blade, no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the EDD001 by CNC machining from aluminium, which gives it clean, even edges, and then anodises it so that the colour lies within a hard oxide layer at the surface. The hub, carrying the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on every version, and the blade is finished in the colour you order. It is a fixed lever: from the pivot to the tip it is a single rigid piece, which keeps both the resting position and the feel at the first touch consistent.
Covering the Brake
Riding with fingers on the lever shortens the time between seeing a hazard and slowing down, because the hand is already in place. It only works if the lever position lets the fingers rest without pressing. When the blade is too close, the weight of the fingers alone can take up the free travel, drag the pads and light the brake lamp without your noticing; when it is too far out, the fingers have to be held in the air, which tires them within minutes. The adjuster on the EDD001 lets you find the position in between, where two fingers lie on the blade and the brake stays off until you mean it. The short blade makes covering easier still, since the two resting fingers reach its end while the others keep hold of the throttle. On a 1290 Super Adventure S working through a long day of unknown roads, that small habit saves a great deal of reaction time.
Fitment and Compatibility
We list the EDD001 for the 1290 Super Adventure S from 2017 to 2020, beginning with the S's first model year even though Accossato's list opens earlier. It mounts on the original master cylinder and takes the place of the stock lever. The clutch-side partner is the ESA090, listed for the same years and made in the same colours and lengths.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for this brake lever, so it is offered for track use.
