DescriptionThe whole story▼
Designed for riders who demand all-day comfort alongside precision handling, the K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit transforms the front-end behaviour of the Yamaha YZF-R1 across every road and track condition. The +10mm extended top caps give you greater fork height adjustment without compromise, letting you dial in a ride quality that works for long touring days just as confidently as it does for circuit sessions.
Key Features
- 25mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) allows compression and rebound to be tuned entirely independently, so you can optimise comfort and control simultaneously rather than trading one for the other.
- 30 clicks of compression adjustment and 30 clicks of rebound adjustment provide an exceptionally wide tuning range to match your riding style and road conditions precisely.
- +10mm extended top caps increase fork height adjustment range over the standard fitment, unlocking geometry changes that improve both straight-line stability and cornering confidence.
- Increased stroke compared to the original cartridge delivers enhanced performance headroom, particularly over successive bumps or repeated braking zones.
- Aircraft-grade aluminium construction with hard-anodised components ensures long-term durability and consistent damping performance even under sustained use.
- Fully compatible with Yamaha YZF-R1 model years 2015 through 2026, making this kit a future-proof investment for current and upcoming R1 owners.
Precision Tuning for Road and Track
The 25IDS architecture separates the compression and rebound circuits so each can be optimised without influencing the other — a level of refinement rarely found outside high-end suspension rebuilds. The suggested starting points of 14 clicks compression, 18 clicks rebound and 8mm preload give you a calibrated baseline to work from, whether you are setting up for a sport touring run or a track day. From that baseline, the 30-click range in both directions means you are never far from the ideal damping curve for the conditions.
Build Quality
K-Tech manufacture these cartridges using aerospace-specification aluminium, and every component is hard-anodised to resist wear, corrosion and heat discolouration over thousands of kilometres. The 25mm inner diameter and precision tolerances ensure the damping response is linear and predictable — there is no vague mid-stroke feel that can unsettle a fast road rider. The 693mm overall length and 125mm stroke are engineered specifically to the YZF-R1 fork geometry, so installation integrates cleanly with the stock fork legs without modification.
Fitment and Compatibility
