DescriptionThe whole story▼
On the Speed Triple 1050 S, the JP ACCGP TR039 shortens the electronic throttle's rotation to 60 degrees while leaving the bike's ride-by-wire mapping untouched. Less wrist movement is needed to reach full throttle, which changes how the grip feels in the hand far more than it changes how the engine responds underneath.
Key Features
- Triumph Speed Triple 1050 S (2018–2020)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
The Everyday Triple
The S trim is the more road-focused of the 1050 range, built for commuting and weekend riding rather than track days, and its throttle response reflects that brief more than a sharper spec sheet would. A shorter throw suits the kind of frequent, moderate inputs that make up most riding on this trim.
Closer to a Cable
Ride-by-wire throttles are electronic switches dressed up to feel mechanical, and some do that better than others. The shortened rotation and stiffer spring here are tuned to mimic the weight and resistance of a cable-operated grip, narrowing the gap between how the bike responds and how the rider expects it to.
Three Levels of Preload
The return spring's preload can be set across three positions from outside the unit, adjusting how much resistance is felt before the throttle starts to open. A heavier setting suits riders who want more feedback at the first crack of throttle; a lighter one suits those who prefer an easier pull.
Filtering and Roundabouts
Low-speed town riding, where the throttle is opened and closed in short, frequent bursts, is where a shorter throw is most noticeable on a bike like the S. Less rotation per input means less repeated wrist movement over a commute.
Feel in Poor Conditions
In the wet, fine throttle control matters more than outright power, and a grip with a predictable, progressive spring makes it easier to judge exactly how much is being asked for. The stiffer resistance away from idle also makes it harder to add unintended throttle through a bump or a gloved hand slipping slightly.
Nothing Lost
The factory throttle body is set aside rather than discarded during fitting, since the swap does not involve cutting or splicing it. Reverting to the original grip later is possible without buying a replacement part. The swap in either direction takes a workshop only a short amount of time.
