DescriptionThe whole story▼
Fitted to the Aprilia RS 660, the JP ACCGP AP009 keeps the ride-by-wire wiring and sensor untouched while shortening the throttle's own travel to sixty degrees. Three external preload positions let the rider set return pressure to match riding style, a choice the factory twist-grip on this parallel-twin never gave.
Key Features
- Aprilia RS 660 (2020–2026)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
A Middleweight Built for Momentum
The RS 660 trades outright peak power for a parallel-twin that rewards carrying speed through a bend rather than chasing a redline. Riders stepping up from smaller machines usually find the chassis forgiving, which makes fine throttle metering, rather than raw grip, the limiting factor on a quick lap.
Three Settings, One Lever
Where the standard GP throttle ships with a single fixed return rate, this unit opens the spring preload to three external positions. A lighter setting suits town riding and cold tyres; the firmest suits a dry track day, and swapping between them takes a screwdriver rather than a strip-down.
Sitting Over the Tank
The RS 660's riding position leans the rider forward without pinning the wrists the way a full superbike does, so the hand already meets the grip at a natural angle. That matters once the stroke is shortened, because the remaining travel is covered from a position the rider holds comfortably all day.
Sixty Degrees, Not Ninety
Cutting the throttle's rotation down to sixty degrees shortens the distance between idle and full opening without touching the electronics beneath it. The ride-by-wire sensor and its mapping stay exactly as the factory intended; only the mechanical path from wrist to sensor gets shorter.
A Twin That Likes to Be Worked
The RS 660's parallel-twin builds its character through the mid-range rather than a screaming top end, so throttle inputs in that band carry more weight than on a four-cylinder machine. A shorter, more progressive stroke suits a motor that rewards being ridden on the torque curve.
Back to Stock in Minutes
Nothing about the original throttle housing is modified or discarded during the swap, so returning to the factory unit is a reversal of the same steps. Owners who sell the bike, or simply want to compare the two feels back to back, keep that option open indefinitely.
