DescriptionThe whole story▼
Cross-country races often begin differently from motocross. Instead of a gate, riders line up in rows with their engines off, and when the flag drops they have to kick their bikes into life and get away cleanly. For a rider on a Yamaha YZ125X, the clutch lever is part of that first second of the race. Accossato's C7266 fits the YZ125X of 2017 to 2022: a folding clutch lever CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, whose long four-finger blade is carried on a joint and can give way forwards in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Yamaha YZ125X, 2017 to 2022
- Installed at the original clutch perch, replacing the standard lever
- Long, four-finger blade
- Joint lets the blade fold forward rather than break
- CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075 aluminium alloy
- Blade in black or blue on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for cross-country and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The C7266 is machined from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy, the alloy chosen so the lever can be strong and reliable without being heavy. At the clutch perch, a dark base takes over the pivot from the stock lever; the blade, black or blue, is joined to it by the folding joint. The clutch blade is long and designed for four fingers. For a rider who uses the clutch at every start, every restart and every tight turn in the woods, a full-hand lever spreads that work across the whole hand.
Rows, Flags and a Dead-Engine Start
A dead-engine start rewards preparation. Riders in the row warm their engines beforehand, switch off and sit waiting for the flag, some in neutral, some already in gear with the clutch pulled in. A warm two-stroke 125 usually fires on the first kick, and the skill lies in what happens next: a smooth release of the clutch, enough revs to stop the engine bogging, and a straight line into the first section while the riders behind are still kicking. A clumsy release stalls the engine or spins the rear tyre, and the row pulls away without you.
The same routine applies after a fall later in the race, because a stalled YZ125X has to be kicked back into life in the same way, often on a slope or in mud. A clutch lever broken in the fall makes that far harder. When the bike goes down on its left, the jointed blade of the C7266 can tip forward instead of snapping, which improves the chance that the lever is still there when you stand the bike up, kick it over and pull away. It is not a guarantee, and a spare belongs in the truck, but in a race that may last hours, a lever that survives the first crash is still there for the last lap.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7266 fits the original clutch perch and is listed by Accossato for the Yamaha YZ125X of 2017 to 2022. On the right, the folding B8265 brake lever is listed for the same years. Black and blue are available for both levers; the brake lever also comes in green.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for the C7266. Like the YZ125X, it is meant for cross-country racing and off-road riding, not for public roads.
Scope of Delivery
