DescriptionThe whole story▼

Not every broken lever comes from racing. Between motos a Honda CRF450R often sits on a paddock stand or leans against a van, and on soft ground or in a gust of wind it can topple over with nobody near it. Accossato's C7210 is a folding clutch lever for the CRF450R from 2004 to 2020. Machined from Ergal 7075, with a long blade for four fingers, it has a joint that allows the blade to fold forward if the bike lands on its left.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato began in 1969 in Moncalieri, near Turin, building competition motorcycles, and the C7210 is still made in Italy. It is milled on CNC machines from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy chosen so that the lever is strong, light and reliable. The dark base sits on the pivot at the perch; the blade, black or red, joins it at the folding joint. Being a clutch lever, the blade is the long type, made for four fingers.

The Paddock Topple

In the paddock, a motocross bike like the CRF450R usually spends the time between rides on a stand. On a crowded race day the bike is lifted onto it after every moto, both wheels hang free, and it stays there while you rest. It only takes the stand sinking into soft ground, a child leaning on the bars or a neighbour's van door swinging open for the whole machine to go over. It usually lands on one side, from full height, with a lever taking the impact.

Paddock falls are frustrating precisely because they are avoidable. Put the stand on a board or a flat stone, turn the bars so the bike rests steadily, and never leave it on the stand while the engine runs. When one still happens, the construction of the C7210 helps. Its joint allows the blade to swing forward rather than snapping at the tip, so there is a chance you find the lever usable when you pick the bike up. Not a certainty, but it can spare you a frantic search for a spare lever before the next gate drop.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the C7210 for the Honda CRF450R in two version groups, 2004 to 2006 and 2007 to 2020, fitted at the original clutch perch. The B8207 folding brake lever for the same bike covers 2007 to 2022, so owners of a 2007 to 2020 CRF450R can fit both sides from this range. The 2021 and 2022 models are not listed for this clutch lever.

Road Approval

The C7210 has no documented German ABE. It is sold for motocross and off-road competition.
