Finer means more held back and less passed through, coarser means the reverse, and no point on that line is the best one; there is only the point that matches the roads you use. Gravel access tracks, dry farmland in high summer and long stretches of roadworks are the case for the fine end. Nothing here makes a standard R 1300 R noticeably stronger, and the P14 in particular is chosen for what it keeps out. Dry it only in moving air, never with heat and never near an open flame, and refit it dry, with no oil of any kind.
