DescriptionThe whole story▼

Hard enduro terrain, with rocky stream beds, deep ruts and steep muddy climbs, is where many owners of earlier Yamaha WR450F models like to ride. For the WR450F from 2003 to 2015, Accossato lists its AGPA51 front pad in the Off-road sintered (STMX) compound. It is aimed at riders who seek out the toughest terrain and need a front pad designed to cope with mud, water and grit rather than with road use.

Key Features

  • AGPA51 front pad, STMX off-road compound
  • Listed for the Yamaha WR450F, 2003 to 2015
  • Accossato's off-road compound
  • Designed for mud, rock and water
  • For hard trails and enduro riding
  • One box, single front caliper
  • OR, ST and EV1 also offered

Construction and Material Quality

STMX is Accossato's compound for off-road riders, according to the manufacturer. On hard terrain, the pad is exposed to grit, mud and water constantly, and STMX is the mix intended for that use rather than for tarmac.

Rocky Stream Beds

Riding up a rocky stream bed, the front brake of a WR450F is dipped in water repeatedly and used in short, precise bursts to keep the bike under control. On steep descents covered in mud, the front brake needs to bite even though the disc is dirty. STMX is designed for these situations. The weight and strength of a 450 make controlled braking even more important on difficult ground.

Maintenance

Mud and grit wear pads and discs faster. Check pad thickness regularly, clean the caliper after every ride and inspect the pistons for dirt that could stop them retracting. Replace pads before they are fully worn to protect the disc, because a worn-out pad on a heavy WR450F scores the disc surface quickly.

Fitment and Compatibility

For WR450F bikes built from 2003 to 2015, Accossato's front pad is AGPA51. The later 2020 to 2022 bikes use AGPA288, and no Accossato front pad is listed for 2016 to 2019. AGPP106 is the rear pad for 2003 to 2022. One front caliper means one box. Accossato's disc range for the model includes DK111, DK168, DK268 and DK269. After fitting, pump the lever firm and bed the pads in on a hard surface.

Road Approval

We have no German ABE or test documentation. This pad is sold for off-road competition use.
