DescriptionThe whole story▼
The F4 is the motorcycle that brought MV Agusta back in the late 1990s, and its shape, with four exhaust outlets under the tail and a single-sided swingarm, still stops people in the street. The generation built from 2010 refined that design, and many examples are now weekend machines that spend the winter indoors. A long lay-up is kinder to some parts than to others. The Accossato EDF099 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the F4 of 2010 to 2018, anodised, adjustable for reach and made in three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the MV Agusta F4, 2010 to 2018
- Also listed for the F4 1000 R and F4 1000 S named by Accossato
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long blades
- Anodised aluminium with a black hub, no paint to lift
- Fixed blade with no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
The EDF099 is shaped from aluminium by CNC machining and then anodised, the hub in black and the blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. Anodising produces a dense oxide layer that is part of the metal, so there is no paint film to absorb moisture and lift. The hub houses the pivot and the reach adjustment. The blade has no hinge, which means there is no joint that could stiffen or loosen while the bike stands still for months.
Through the Winter Without a Mark
An F4 put away in autumn meets a slow, quiet kind of wear: condensation in a cold garage, a cover that traps moisture, dust that settles on every surface. Painted parts often show it first. An anodised lever copes well, but a little care before storage still pays off. Clean the EDF099 with mild soapy water, dry it, and keep aggressive cleaners away from the finish; a breathable cover and a dry, ventilated space do the rest. When spring comes, check the lever before the first ride. Squeeze it firmly with the bike standing still to confirm that the brake feels as firm as it did in autumn, and have it looked at if it does not. Then look at the reach again: after months away from the bike, and perhaps in different gloves, your preferred setting may have changed. On a machine as sharp as the F4, those few minutes are well spent, because the first ride of the year is when the hands are least practised.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF099 for the F4 from 2010 to 2018, with entries for the F4 1000 of 2011 to 2018, the F4 1000 S of 2010 to 2012 and the F4 1000 R of 2013 to 2015. The lever fits the bike's original master cylinder. For the clutch, the ESH011 is listed for the same years.
Road Approval
The EDF099 is sold for track use because no German ABE has been documented for it.
