When choosing, start with the layup. Prepreg, autoclave-cured carbon offers the best strength-to-weight ratio and a consistent resin content; twill and plain weaves differ mainly in appearance and drapability around complex curves. Decide between a complete race fairing — typically a one- or two-piece upper with belly pan, designed for quick removal and fastener kits — and street-legal panels that retain mounts for lights and mirrors. Check compatibility with your subframe, radiator and exhaust routing, especially on bikes running full race systems.

Finish matters too: clear-coated gloss or matte carbon can be run as delivered, while unpainted race surfaces are intended for livery paintwork.
