An air filter is usually discussed as though the intake were the end of the story — whatever gets past the element goes through the engine and out of the exhaust. Much of it does not. The fine mineral fraction that survives the intake works its way past the rings and settles in the oil, and on a GSX-R125 that counts for more than the small quantities suggest, because there is so little oil for it to settle in. A large engine dilutes a given intake of dust through several litres; a 125 sports single has a fraction of that volume, so the same dust arrives at a higher concentration and circulates through every bearing until the next oil change.
Key Features
- A size class a coarse medium passes straight through is held here at 14 microns
- The dry special nonwoven behind that flows 1,800 litres per square metre per second
- Oil is never applied, so no film travels onto the throttle body or the sensors
- Roughly double the filtering surface, set against other performance filters
- Original element out, this one in, nothing visible outside — no modification, no remap
- Washable and reusable, under two years of warranty from purchase
The fraction that never looks like dirt
Coarse grit is stopped by almost anything. The particles worth arguing about are the ones a coarse medium hands straight through, and they are small enough that an element carrying plenty of them still looks clean. That gap is what a 14-micron nonwoven closes. It holds back a size class the 80-micron P08 was never meant to stop, and it does so as a depth medium rather than a screen — the load is taken into the thickness of the material instead of only across its face. Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters is what makes a structure this fine workable on a road bike.
What it costs, and when to buy the other one
The price is flow: 1,800 litres per square metre per second against 5,050 for the P08. Finer always means more retention and less flow, in both directions — a trade, not a ranking. On a 125 whose output is fixed by its licence class the flow given up is not the term that limits anything, which is why the finer medium is defensible here. If your GSX-R125 lives on clean roads, or spends weekends on a circuit where you want every bit of intake margin, the P08 is the more sensible part and we would rather you bought that one.
Care and cleaning
A couple of minutes with an air line covers the routine: compressed air from the clean side outwards, and the PM250P14 is done. A deeper clean uses lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a rinse kept up until the water runs clear. What follows matters as much: complete drying in open air, never with heat or flame, then back in dry. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-R125, 2017 to 2026, a direct replacement in the standard airbox with no modification. The same element serves the other small-capacity Suzukis on this airbox plus one machine from another marque, five motorcycles in all; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
