DescriptionThe whole story▼
Despite the name, the F750GS runs the same 853 cc parallel twin as its bigger sibling. The JP CO BM018 replaces its combined throttle housing and right-hand switch with a milled Ergal body.
Key Features
- BMW F750GS (2018–2023)
- Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
- Integrated right-hand switch block
- No model lettering on the housing
- Black anodised
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
A Name That Misleads
The F750GS does not have a 750 cc engine. It shares the 853 cc twin of the F850GS, detuned to 77 hp, and differs mainly in wheel sizes, suspension travel and seat height. BMW chose the name for the market position rather than the displacement, which has confused a good number of buyers and parts catalogues since 2018.
The Approachable GS
With a 19 inch front wheel and a lower seat, this is the adventure bike aimed at riders stepping up rather than setting off across Mongolia. It does a great deal of commuting and weekend touring, which means the controls see high cycle counts in ordinary weather rather than occasional abuse in extreme conditions.
Housing and Switch in One Piece
BMW integrated the right-hand controls into the throttle assembly on this platform, so a worn switch means replacing the whole thing. This unit is that whole thing, machined from Ergal 7075 rather than moulded, and it plugs into the original connector without any change to the wiring.
Plain Black, No Badge
The GS-lettered version of this housing is listed separately. This one has no model designation on the flank, which suits an F750GS that has been fitted with luggage, guards and lighting from several different suppliers and does not need another logo in the mix.
One Part, Two Model Names
The F750GS and the F850GS share this housing because they share the platform underneath. That is useful to know when searching: parts listed for the 850 will very often fit the 750, and the reverse, even where the catalogue names only one of them. The engine, the loom and the bar architecture are common.
