DescriptionThe whole story▼

The tank cover on the first-generation Streetfighter V4 spans the top of the tank between the filler and the seat, and it is the panel that carries the Ducati red on a standard machine. Replacing it is the single biggest change that can be made to how the motorcycle reads from above and from the saddle, and it is the part most owners think about first.

Key Features

  • Upper tank cover, direct replacement for the original painted panel
  • Available in 200 Plain and in 245 Twill
  • Autoclave-cured laminate over a broad, gently domed surface
  • Original fixing points and fasteners, fuel tank itself unmodified
  • Raw carbon is the lightest and least expensive configuration

Losing the Red on Purpose

A standard Streetfighter V4 is a red motorcycle, and this panel is a large part of why. Covering it in carbon is not a small cosmetic step: it changes the machine from a red bike with black details into a dark bike with red accents, and that is a decision to make deliberately rather than by accumulating parts.

It is also the reason this part sells more often in matt and satin than the rest of the range. A gloss carbon panel where the red used to be reads as a replacement; a matt one reads as though the motorcycle was always meant to look that way.

Fitment and Compatibility

Ducati Streetfighter V4, model years 2020 to 2022. The 2023 update changed the tank cover, and the 2023-2024 machines take a separate article.

Road Approval

Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. It is a cover over the tank rather than a fuel-carrying component, but confirm the position for your own registration before road use.

Weave Choice on the Largest Visible Panel

This is the article where the difference between the two fabrics matters most, because the surface is big enough to show a pattern properly. 200 Plain gives a fine, even chequer that looks technical and slightly formal. 245 Twill gives diagonal lines with more depth and a more obviously handmade character.

Seen from the saddle at arm's length, plain weave is the calmer surface to look at for hours. Seen by somebody standing next to the motorcycle, twill has more presence. Both are correct; they answer different questions about who the motorcycle is for.
