DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of small two-strokes on club grids are not really one motorcycle any more. A crashed engine goes into a straight frame, a set of forks arrives from a third bike, and the papers describe a season that none of the parts remember. That is normal, and it is the reason experienced buyers order controls by shape rather than by year. Accossato lists the AGS17 for the 150SX across 2009 to 2018, a silver clutch lever in the form of the original.
Key Features
- Original-form clutch lever for the KTM 150SX
- Accossato's entry covers 2009 to 2018
- Silver
- Clutch side, left of the bar
- An original spare parts type developed by Accossato for good value
- The maker states that its production method improves resistance after damage
- One lever
- No German ABE, no test mark; for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
There is one idea behind the AGS17 and it is not performance. The lever reproduces the shape of the clutch control the 150SX was built with, so a machine put back together with it feels and looks the way the factory intended rather than the way a parts bin decided. Accossato assembled this part of its programme around value for money, and reports that the process used to make the levers leaves them more resistant after damage or a collision. This application is listed in silver. The company publishes no further technical detail about the part, and we would rather say so than guess.
A Machine Rebuilt From Two
When a bike has been assembled from more than one donor, the model year written on the documents becomes a rough guide and nothing more. The frame may be from one season, the top yoke and perches from another, and a previous owner may have fitted whatever fitted. None of that is a problem in itself, and a well-built hybrid can be a good buy; it simply means that the ordering method has to change. Take the old clutch lever out of the perch, or the stub of it if that is all there is, and look at the pivot end first, because that is the half that has to sit in the bracket and work the cylinder. Photograph it from directly above on a plain surface with the bar straight, then take a second picture from the side to record the curve of the blade. Compare both against the product pictures before ordering, and if anything looks ambiguous send the photographs to us instead of gambling. A rebuilt 150SX is also a good reason to check the perch itself for cracks around the clamp and to make sure the lever swings through its full arc without touching the grip or the housing. Ten minutes with a rag and a camera prevents the repair that arrives on the wrong side of a race weekend.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the AGS17 for the 150SX from 2009 to 2018 and the AGS14 from 2016 to 2022; the overlapping seasons are exactly the case described above, and the part in your hand decides. There is a single brake entry for this bike, the AGD316. The same AGS17 is catalogued with us for the Husqvarna FE 250, the Husqvarna FS 450 and the Husqvarna TE 300, machines built in the same works. If a tuning part is wanted instead, Accossato offers the CNC levers B8283, C7283 and C7284 for the 150SX.
Road Approval
Accossato supplied no approval documents with the AGS17, so neither a German ABE nor a test mark can be stated, and we list it as a part for racing and competition.
