DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rain changes the way a commuter uses the front brake. Wet gloves are stiffer, the grip is slippery, and the hand reaches for the blade a fraction earlier and squeezes a fraction harder than it would on a dry morning. A 200 DUKE spends most of its life in exactly those conditions, which is why the shape of the lever matters more on this bike than on one that only comes out in summer. Accossato lists the AGD315 for the 200 DUKE from 2012 to 2016, a black brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Replacement front brake lever for the KTM 200 DUKE
- Accossato's entry covers 2012 to 2016, including the ABS versions in its list
- Black, as given for this model
- Right-hand side, front brake
- An original spare parts type, developed by Accossato as an affordable repair
- Accossato says the manufacturing process improves resistance after damage or collisions
- One lever per pack
- No approval papers held; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
A replacement in the original form has one job: to leave no trace. The AGD315 takes the outline of the lever fitted to the 200 DUKE and is listed in black, which is how this model wears its controls, so a repaired bike does not advertise the repair from the far side of a car park. Accossato developed the range so that a control broken at walking pace costs roughly what such a mishap deserves, and states that the method by which these levers are made leaves them more resistant after damage or a collision. Nothing else about the part is published, and nothing else is claimed.
Wet Gloves in Morning Traffic
Riders who use a small naked bike all year know the feeling of a winter glove on a cold lever: less feedback, a wider contact patch on the blade, and a tendency to use three fingers where two would do in July. That is worth bearing in mind when a damaged lever is replaced, because a blade whose tip has been broken off or filed back changes where the fingers sit, and in the wet the hand finds the shortened end at the worst possible moment. It is also why a lever that has been bent and straightened has no place on a bike ridden to work. Metal that has been worked back into line can let go without warning, and the moment it chooses is never the empty road. Fitting the new blade is a short job on the 200 DUKE and the hydraulics stay sealed throughout: clean the pivot and the bore it turns in, grease both thinly, and make sure the lever moves the master cylinder piston cleanly with the small amount of free play the handbook asks for. Then check the brake light before anything else, since a switch that has been disturbed is the classic way a good repair turns into a bad surprise in traffic, and pump the lever a few times at a standstill to confirm the pressure point sits where it always did.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD315 for the 200 DUKE from 2012 to 2016 and splits its own entry into the 2012 machine and the ABS versions of 2013 to 2016, all under the same code, so the right-hand side is settled whichever version stands in the garage. No original-type clutch lever is listed for this model. The same code is catalogued with us for the KTM 125 DUKE, the KTM 390 DUKE and the KTM RC 390, which share this generation of cockpit. Riders who want a tuning part will find Accossato's CNC levers for the 200 DUKE under EDF039 and ESK390.
Road Approval
For the AGD315 we were given no test or approval documentation of any kind, so there is no German ABE to quote and we sell the lever for racing and competition use.
