DescriptionThe whole story▼
This Ready To Brake master cylinder keeps the scooter-suggested 14 mm piston from the 14x18 version but moves to the longest, promptest pivot distance Accossato offers on this bore, 20 mm, a setting the manufacturer does not recommend for street use. It is intended for scooters and lighter machines used on track or in competition, where the shortest possible lever stroke matters more than an easy, road-friendly pull, and it carries the same shark-shaped body, integrated micro-switch and seven-colour folding lever as the rest of the Ready To Brake range.
Key Features
- 14 mm piston diameter, suggested for scooters and lighter motorcycles
- 20 mm lever pivot distance, the promptest setting, not recommended for street use
- Folding lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST), available in seven colours
- Integrated micro-switch for the brake light, built into the unit
- Offset fixing riser with a quick-release jumper to speed up servicing
- Shark-shaped body that gives the master cylinder its distinct profile
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
This unit shares its build process with the rest of the Ready To Brake family: an aluminium body worked on CNC machinery in Italy, stainless screws, a zinc-plated bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals able to take sustained heat and continual brake fluid exposure without degrading. The fixing point carries an offset riser that keeps the body from flexing under a hard pull, together with a quick-release jumper so the unit can be unbolted for servicing while the hose stays sealed.
The Promptest Setting on the Smallest Piston
At 20 mm, this is the longest pivot distance Accossato fits to the 14 mm Ready To Brake piston, shortening the lever stroke needed to reach full braking force at the cost of requiring more hand effort for the same result; that trade-off is why the setting is not recommended for street use, where the 18 mm version of this piston size is the better everyday choice. For a lightweight track bike or a competition scooter where braking is done hard and the rider wants the shortest possible lever movement, this combination of a small, light-pulling piston and the firmest available pivot distance gives a direct, immediate feel without the bulk of a larger master cylinder.
Fitment and Compatibility
No motorcycle is matched to this master cylinder in our fitment records, and no vehicle-specific list is published for it; Accossato supplies it as a universal 14 mm radial unit for handlebars with a 22 mm clamp. Check that clamp diameter on your own bars, confirm the brake hydraulics are built around a 14 mm bore, and make sure this piston size fits the calliper and disc already on the machine.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
