DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Shiver 750 GT added a half fairing to Aprilia's naked V-twin, which made it the choice of riders who cover longer distances or commute in all weathers. Riders like that check their oil regularly, often in the garage before work, and they learn one lesson quickly: a bike leaning on its side stand does not give an honest reading. Accossato's FP001 oil filler cap, CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised and threaded M20x1.5, is listed for the Shiver 750 GT of 2009 to 2015.

Key Features

  • Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Shiver 750 GT, 2009 to 2015
  • M20x1.5 thread, as stated by Accossato
  • Machined aluminium, anodised
  • Eight colours: blue, titanium, red, green, silver, orange, gold, black
  • Usable on other motorcycles with the same cap size after checking
  • Fitment to be confirmed on Accossato's application list
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

CNC machining shapes the FP001 from aluminium, and anodising gives it one of eight colours: blue, titanium, red, green, silver, orange, gold or black. Accossato specifies the thread as M20x1.5 and describes the cap as fitting the models on its list and adaptable to others whose filler has that size. Clean threads and a clean sealing face keep it easy to open and close over the years.

Upright, Not on the Side Stand

An oil level read with the bike leaning on its side stand is a guess, not a measurement, because the oil settles towards one side of the engine. How the Shiver 750 GT has to stand for the check, and where to read the level, is set out in the owner's manual; follow it to the letter. In practice that often means a helper holding the bike upright on level ground, or a paddock stand if you have one. Check with the engine cold, preferably before the first ride of the day, so the oil has had time to settle. If the level is low, clean the area around the filler, remove the cap, add oil in small amounts and check again after each one; overfilling is as unwelcome as running low. Put the FP001 back in by hand and turn it until it sits firmly. Get into the habit of noting the date of each top-up; a GT that needs more oil than usual between services is telling you something.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FP001 for the Shiver 750 GT from 2009 to 2015. With the M20x1.5 thread, the same cap is also catalogued at Inter-Pace for the standard Shiver 750 and for the Caponord 1200. Accossato states that it can be adapted to other motorcycles with the same cap size, but please check the thread against the original cap before ordering.

Road Approval

Without an ABE or other test papers for this oil filler cap, we offer it for competition and track riding.
