DescriptionThe whole story▼

Most enduro loops on a Yamaha WR250F cross water sooner or later, whether a ford, a flooded track or a stream. Afterwards the brakes do not work as they did a moment before, and a rider who expects that stays in control. Accossato's DK268 is a fixed front disc listed for the reverse-cylinder WR250F from 2015 to 2024. The supplier gives it as one-piece and steel-made; it spans 270 mm, is 3 mm thick and has a 118 mm bore, with a hole circle of 134 mm for its six 6.5 mm fixing holes.

Key Features

  • Fixed front disc for the Yamaha WR250F, 2015 to 2024
  • Listed for the reverse-cylinder WR250F
  • 270 mm outer diameter, 118 mm bore, 3 mm thick
  • Six 6.5 mm holes on a 134 mm hole circle
  • One piece, steel-made according to the supplier
  • Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road sport

Construction and Material Quality

The DK268 comes from Accossato's off-road range and is made in one piece, without a separate carrier. The supplier calls it steel-made and says it is interchangeable with the disc Yamaha fits as standard. It shares its hole circle and hole pattern with the smaller DK111 listed for the earlier WR250F, while its braking surface reaches further out. Accossato prints each disc's minimum working thickness on it and says its knowledge of discs comes from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3.

After the River Crossing

Water on discs and pads acts like a lubricant. Straight after a crossing on the WR250F, the first squeeze of the front brake may bring much less stopping than expected, and the rear can behave the same way. Before the next descent or corner, dry the brakes: ride on at moderate speed and apply both lightly for a few seconds, several times, until you feel them bite normally. In deep water, sand and mud get into the calipers, so after the ride wash the wheels, check that the pads move freely and look at the disc surfaces for fresh scoring. A disc scored by grit loses thickness faster; measure it against the minimum printed on the ring. Pads that are soaked again and again may also wear faster, so check them more often in a wet season.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK268 for the WR250F with the reverse cylinder from 2015 to 2024. The list also shows the smaller DK111 for the WR250F up to 2019 and the larger, floating DK269 from 2017, so check the diameter of your current disc before ordering. The rear disc on Accossato's list is the DK168, from 2003 to 2024.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE for the DK268, and no type approval has been documented. It is supplied for off-road competition and training.
