DescriptionThe whole story▼
Adventure riding often means two pairs of gloves in one day: warm, waterproof ones for the motorway run to the mountains and thin, ventilated ones for the trail itself. On the KTM 1190 Adventure R, both pairs end up on the same clutch lever, and they want it in different places. The Accossato ESA090 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the 1190 Adventure R of 2013 to 2016, whose distance from the grip can be adjusted to suit whichever pair you are wearing.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the KTM 1190 Adventure R, 2013 to 2016
- Distance to the grip adjustable for different gloves
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Three lengths; standard approximately 138 mm
- Blue, gold, green and orange in every length
- Black hub, anodised CNC-machined aluminium
- Fixed blade with no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the ESA090 from aluminium and anodises it, which colours and hardens the outer layer of the metal instead of covering it with paint. The hub, holding the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on every version; the blade is finished in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. The lever is one rigid piece without a folding joint, so the only difference you feel between the motorway and the trail is the one the gloves themselves make.
Trail Gloves and Touring Gloves
Touring gloves put padding and insulation between the palm and the grip and stiffen the fingers, so a lever that felt right in thin gloves suddenly seems too close and awkward to wrap. Off-road gloves are the opposite: little material, a lot of feel, and a hand that wants the lever nearer. Setting the reach halfway between the two is a compromise that suits neither. A better approach is to find the two settings you like, remember them, and move the adjuster when you change gloves at the start of the trail. Blade length plays a part as well. The short blade, favoured for two-finger clutch work off-road, sits comfortably in thin gloves, while the standard blade gives thick gloves more to hold. Riders who spend most of their time on the 1190 Adventure R in one kind of glove can simply choose the length that suits it, and leave the adjuster alone.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESA090 for the 1190 Adventure R from 2013 to 2016, mounting at the original clutch mounting. For the front brake, the matching Accossato lever is the EDD001, listed for the same period and made in the same colours.
Road Approval
German road approval (ABE) is not documented for the ESA090; the lever is sold for the track.
