DescriptionThe whole story▼
Twenty years after the first Fireblade, Honda gave the CBR1000RR new suspension, wheels and bodywork for 2012, and the bike has been a familiar sight at track days ever since. Hard braking on it teaches every rider the same lesson: if your arms take the load, your steering suffers. Accossato's FT086 is an adjustable racing street rearset for the Honda CBR1000RR of 2012 to 2017. It is made of aluminium, sets the feet further back than the original footrests and keeps the standard shift pattern, with knurled pegs and lever tips for grip.

Construction and Material Quality
There is little decoration on the FT086 and a lot of function. Accossato makes the rearset from aluminium, knurls the footpegs and the tips of the gear and brake levers, and fits aluminium plates as heel guards. Those plates matter on a sports bike, where the heel of the boot sits close to moving parts behind the footpeg. Accossato describes the rearset as adjustable while leaving the details open, so your workshop will find the options when fitting it. Choose all black for a discreet look, or black with red details if the paint of your Fireblade includes red.
Braking With Your Legs, Not Your Arms
At the end of a straight, deceleration tries to slide you forward into the tank. The instinctive reaction is to lock your elbows and hold yourself back through the handlebar. That loads the front end through your arms and makes precise steering at the turn-in point hard. A more effective method is to take the load with your lower body: balls of the feet on the pegs, knees and thighs squeezed against the tank, core muscles tight, arms loose. Many riders find that rearward pegs such as those of the FT086 make it easier to brace the legs against the tank in this way. Knurled pegs help the soles hold their place while the braking force builds. A simple test at your next track day on the CBR1000RR: in the braking zone, flap your elbows gently. If you can, your legs are doing the work. If you cannot, squeeze the tank harder and let the bar go light in your hands.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT086 for the CBR1000RR from 2012 to 2017 under a single entry, without separate versions. The kit replaces the Honda footrest assemblies and works with the standard shift pattern. A specialist workshop should fit it, set the rear brake pedal with some free play, check that the brake light responds and adjust the gear lever so it sits comfortably under your boot. All fasteners go to Honda's torque values for the CBR1000RR, with thread locker where the manual calls for it.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no Teilegutachten are documented for the FT086, so it is sold for the circuit and not for use on public roads.
