DescriptionThe whole story▼
Part number KT 124 is what Öhlins supplies for the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, model years 2020–2025. Damping that fades turns a predictable 701 Supermoto into one that has to be ridden around.
Key Features
- Stroke: 97,5 mm
- Overall length 391 mm as specified by Öhlins for this model
- 46 mm piston diameter
- Adjustable compression damping at the reservoir
- Monotube damper layout
- Listed by Öhlins for the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto (2020–2025) and no other machine
- Spring rate 80 N/mm, set against this machine's weight
- Öhlins spring 00698-24 included
Damping and Adjustment
Spring part number 00698-24 is a separate catalogue item, so a rate change is inexpensive. A 46 mm working face means lower oil speed for a given wheel speed, and lower oil speed means less foaming. Spring rate is 80 N/mm as delivered, which sets static sag for a rider of typical weight. Öhlins builds it to 391 mm between the eyes for this chassis. Preload is set separately again, and preload is what determines static sag rather than damping. A single click produces a change most riders can detect, which is not true of every adjustable damper.
The STX 46 Adventure in Detail
Öhlins specifies longer strokes on this variant to suit the travel that adventure chassis actually use. Compared with the Street version the valving is opened at low shaft speeds — the range where a big adventure bike spends most of its life — and the preload adjustment covers a wider load span. The STX 46 Adventure is the version Öhlins sets up for high, heavy machines with long travel.
How Öhlins Builds It
Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against. The damper body is hard-anodised aluminium, which resists both corrosion and the thermal cycling a rear shock lives with. Machining, anodising, assembly and testing all happen in the same building rather than across a supply chain.
Fitted to the 701 Supermoto
Öhlins covers the 6-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. A 701 cc machine of this type sits in a specific weight band, and Öhlins picks the spring rate for that band rather than for the platform.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins part number KT 124 is the correct number for the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto as built 2020–2025. Nothing about it is generic — the mounting dimensions alone rule out a different model.
Road Approval
Road approval: Öhlins has the German ABE for the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto in progress but not yet issued. Road use meanwhile needs an individual inspection — ask us for the current status.
