Cut for One Chassis
JetPrime lists a universal MV housing and this F4-specific version. The dedicated one is shaped for the F4's bar position and cable routing, which behind that fairing is considerably tighter than on a naked bike.
Radial Valves
The F4's four-cylinder engine arranges its valves radially rather than in the conventional pattern, an idea developed during the period Cagiva's relationships reached into Ferrari. It is complex, expensive and produces a distinctive noise at high revs.
The Bar Area on a Tamburini Design
Space around the clip-ons on an F4 is minimal, because the fairing was drawn for aerodynamics rather than for accessibility. A housing profiled for the chassis routes its cables more cleanly than a general-purpose body manages.
A Long Standard Travel
MV set the F4's throttle action for road use, and on an engine that makes its power beyond ten thousand revs it feels slow. A shorter cam reduces the rotation needed and is felt on the first fast corner.
Mechanical Only
Cable throttle, original cables retained, nothing electrical disturbed. The conversion undoes in an afternoon, which on a motorcycle valued for originality is the important property.
Machined Rather Than Cast
The standard component is a casting with a moulded cover. Cutting the replacement from billet gives a bore that is machined, and that precision is what the wrist reads at small openings.
A Fairing Drawn for Air
Tamburini shaped the F4's bodywork around aerodynamics rather than around service access, and the space behind the clip-ons reflects that. A housing cut for this chassis fits into it more cleanly than a body designed to suit the whole MV range.
