The 1190 Adventure R takes the same 150 hp twin off road. The JP PD KT032 replaces its right-hand switch with milled Ergal on a universal clamp.

Twenty-One Inch Front Wheel
The R version swaps the standard bike's 19 inch front for a 21, adds longer-travel WP suspension and fits proper off-road tyres. What emerges is a very large motorcycle that is genuinely capable on a loose surface, which almost nothing else in the class was at the time.
Offroad Mode
KTM gave the R a riding mode that cuts power to 100 hp and allows a substantial amount of rear wheel slip. It sounds like a marketing feature and it transforms how the bike behaves on gravel, which is why owners of these use it constantly.
Standing on a Big Adventure Bike
The R's ergonomics assume the rider will spend real time on the pegs, and the bar position reflects that. The thumb reaches the cluster from above rather than behind, and controls laid out for a seated rider sit at a different angle entirely.
Weight Meets Ground
A fully fuelled 1190 Adventure R is a substantial machine to pick up, and it goes over at walking pace on loose surfaces like everything else. The bar end and the switch on it land early, and solid Ergal handles that where a clipped shell does not.
Dust and Water
Fine grit works into a contact and stays; water at least drains. Sealed elements inside a one-piece milled housing exclude both, which on a bike hosed down after every trail section is the specification that actually matters.
Universal Clamp Holes
An Adventure R almost always carries hand guards and frequently a different master cylinder. The plate accepts either bolt arrangement, keeping the cockpit build flexible while the bike is being set up over a season.
Black Anodised
A single finish, through the surface rather than applied. It dulls with contact rather than chipping, which on a motorcycle that will be laid down more than once is the more useful behaviour.
