DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first XSR900 paired the eager 847 triple with an upright, relaxed riding position — a combination that asks the rider to be smoother than the engine naturally is. Smoothness at low revs on this motor is a clutch skill.
Key Features
- Central adjuster wheel, reachable from the riding position
- Folding blade that swings clear instead of snapping off
- Engineered break point inside the two-finger zone
- Phosphated pivot seat, free of play from new
- CNC-machined from solid aluminium, black anodised
- Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203
Build
Solid aluminium, machined and hard anodised, with the pivot bore phosphated separately. Arrives without play, which is what keeps the friction zone predictable on an engine that responds quickly to everything.
Feeding In a Sharp Triple
The 847's throttle is eager at small openings. Pulling away in traffic is therefore easier done with the clutch than the right wrist, and doing it repeatedly needs the blade where the fingers can hold it without opening the hand.
First Generation
Model years 2016 to 2021. The 2022-onward XSR900 uses a different reference from the FXL family, so go by the year rather than the badge.
Road Approval
Approved for German public roads under ABE No. KBA 91203. No entry in the vehicle documents and no separate inspection are needed. Download the certificate above and keep a printed copy on the bike.
Scope of Delivery
One black clutch lever, on its own. Plan a moment to move the clutch switch actuator over from the lever you are removing; it is not supplied and the engine will not start in gear without it.
