DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Bandit 1250 leaves the gear changes to you. There is no quickshifter on this big, uncomplicated four, so every change up and every change down on a day's ride passes through the rider's left hand, and on a winding road that can add up to a remarkable number of pulls before lunch. Accossato's ESS014 is a clutch lever for the GSF1250 Bandit of 2007 to 2016, machined from aluminium and adjustable for its distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit, 2007 to 2016
- Includes Accossato's entries for the Bandit S and the Bandit F
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable on the lever
- Blades short, standard (about 138 mm) or long
- Anodised aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, black hub
- Fixed blade with no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
A clutch lever on a bike like this is pulled thousands of times in a season, so the quality of its pivot matters as much as its looks. Accossato machines the ESS014 from aluminium, which allows the pivot bore in the black hub to be cut cleanly, and places the reach adjuster in the hub as well. The blade is anodised in the colour you select, a finish that grows out of the metal and therefore does not flake. Blade and hub form one rigid unit, with no hinge anywhere between them.
Every Gear by Hand
Using the clutch for every change is no burden as long as each change is short. An upshift needs the clutch only until the drive is interrupted, which is a small part of the lever's full travel; a downshift needs a little more, together with a blip of the throttle. The trouble starts when the lever sits so far out that the fingers must straighten before anything happens. Then every change turns into a full-hand grab, and after an afternoon on a twisting road the forearm starts to complain. Set the ESS014 so that the clutch disengages early in a short movement of the fingers, and gear changes on the Bandit 1250 become quick flicks rather than efforts. Riders who shift a lot often like the long blade for its lighter pull. Others prefer the standard length, which keeps the familiar proportions and comes in all seven colours, including a black that suits a dark Bandit.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESS014 is offered for the GSF1250 Bandit from 2007 to 2016. Accossato's list has entries for the Bandit, for the Bandit S across several periods and for a model labelled GSF 1250 F Bandit from 2010 to 2016; for the plain Bandit it names an earlier starting point, but this product only covers the years in which the Bandit 1250 was in production. It replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. The EDF014 brake lever covers the Bandit 1250 over the same span, so both sides can be ordered in one colour.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the ESS014; we offer it for use on the track.
Scope of Delivery
