Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Voge Valico 300DS (2020–2021) SM257S

Sprint Filter builds four different media for this one airbox, and it does not offer all four to all three machines. The Valico 300DS is the only one of the trio listed for the T12, the 7 µm mat for extreme conditions — and the only one of the trio not listed for the 14 µm dust element that the Brivido and the Trofeo can have. Somebody read the three machines differently. SM257S, the road and track panel, is the entry all three of them share.

Take that split seriously, because it is the closest thing to a recommendation this catalogue contains. The dust element is listed for the two machines expected on surfaced roads; the extreme mat is listed for the Valico alone. Nobody at the factory measured your route, but somebody did decide which options were worth cataloguing for which model, and the Valico is the one they thought might leave the tarmac. This listing sits between those two answers: the standard weave, the option every one of the three is sold with, and the sensible starting point unless the ground under the bike argues otherwise.

The trade the map is made of

Finer holds back more and passes less. That is the whole mechanism, and it runs in one direction only: 80 µm at 5,050 l/m²/sec for this element, 14 µm at 1,800 for the dust mat, 7 µm at 560 for the extreme one. None of the three is better than the others; each was built for different air. What none of them will do is add power. A drop-in panel does not make a standard Valico 300DS noticeably stronger, whichever medium is in the box, SM257S included. It holds intake resistance low and, because it is washed instead of replaced, keeps returning it there.

Care and cleaning

Nothing here is consumed. The usual service is an air line held to the clean face and worked outward, so the load leaves along the path it entered. Where it has been damp and has dried hard, lukewarm water and a mild detergent release it; rinse until nothing more comes away. Then leave the panel in moving air at room temperature until it is genuinely dry — heat of any kind, radiator or open flame included, destroys it — and refit it dry and bare.
