Every paper element carries a small tax before the spanners come out: a number to look up, an order to place, a wait, and the standing temptation to leave it another month because the replacement has not arrived yet. Because the P08 is never oiled, refitting it is a deterministic business. There is no quantity of oil to judge, no over-oiled patch to blot, and no film that can find its way onto an air sensor or a throttle body while you are trying to help. The medium filters at 80 microns and flows 5,050 l/m²/sec clean, and compressed air from the clean side puts it back close to those figures rather than merely tidying it up. Sprint Filter designs the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle, so the same element goes back in year after year.

Care and cleaning

A compressor and a few spare minutes: clean side, blowing outwards, and the SM219S is ready to go back. When it wants the full treatment, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear, then let it dry in air alone — no heat, no flame. It is refitted dry.
