DescriptionThe whole story▼

Violet frame, pink strap, oversized white lettering: in Violet/Pink/Grey the Sidi Gravix Smoke is impossible to overlook on the start line. Behind the colour sits a compact motocross goggle of 118 grams that combines a lightly tinted grey lens with an anti-fog coating, aimed at riders who want steady vision from the first lap to the last.

Key Features

  • 118 grams on the scale
  • Smoke-tinted lens, Category 1
  • Anti-fog coating against condensation
  • Scratch-resistant lens surface
  • Anti-intrusion frame with reinforced lens (manufacturer information)
  • Two-layer foam lining
  • Adjustable outriggers and silicone-lined strap
  • Violet frame, pink strap, white accents

Holding Its Place on the Helmet

Sidi equips the Gravix Smoke with adjustable outriggers. They allow the frame to follow the contour of your helmet rather than work against it, so strap tension is shared out more evenly and, according to Sidi, pressure on the face is better balanced. Inside the elastic strap a silicone lining grips the shell; the manufacturer names jumps, hard acceleration and rough ground as the moments it is designed for.

What the Smoke Lens Does

The lens carries a smoke grey tint and is rated Category 1. In the light-transmission table Sidi publishes for its goggles, that category stands for 43 to 79 percent visible light, which places it between a clear lens and a darker mirrored one. Two treatments are applied to it: a surface meant to resist scratches from roost and wiping, and an anti-fog layer intended to reduce misting when you are working hard and breathing heavily.

Foam Against the Face

Two layers of foam line the frame. Sidi describes them as creating a comfortable seal and managing moisture, something you notice once sweat starts running out from under the helmet halfway through a long moto.

Frame Build

The frame is labelled anti-intrusion by Sidi, meant to stop dirt and debris from working their way in around the lens, and the lens itself is described as reinforced. By weight the goggle consists of 45 percent TPU, 25 percent polycarbonate, 15 percent polyester (PES), 12 percent PU foam and 3 percent silicone and other materials. It is produced in China.

Where It Belongs

Motocross tracks and off-road loops where the light keeps changing, from an open start straight into shaded woodland sections, are the natural home of this goggle. Sidi also points out that parts of it are replaceable to extend its working life; the list does not say which components are sold separately.

What You Should Know

No protection standard is listed for the Gravix Smoke, so we make no claim about certification or impact class. Sidi does not state whether the frame takes prescription glasses or which tear-off system fits, so please check those points before you order if they matter to you. A Category 1 tint passes less light than a clear lens; Sidi's own table lists Category 0 for 80 to 100 percent transmission. Only one size is offered.

Colour

A violet frame dominates the front, interrupted by a white nose bridge below the lens. The strap switches to a saturated pink carrying large white SIDI letters, and the outrigger clips are white as well. The grey in the name refers to the smoke lens. Against brown dirt and green trackside this pairing stands out clearly, and the white details are the first places where mud will show.
