Built with reduced power for newer licence holders, the 890 Duke L (2020-2023) still carries the same chassis and throttle mounting as the full-power model. The JP ACCGP KT016 shortens its rotation to 60 degrees, giving learner riders the same precise feel at the grip despite the restricted output.

Restricted Power, Unrestricted Precision
A lower power output does not mean a rider benefits any less from precise throttle control; if anything, newer riders on the L variant are still learning how their own hand translates into bike behaviour, and a shorter, clearer rotation helps that learning happen with fewer surprises.
The Same Chassis, A Gentler Engine
Because the L shares its chassis and switchgear mounting with the full-power 890 Duke, this throttle fits without any special adaptation, bringing the same shortened rotation and progressive spring to a rider who may later upgrade to the unrestricted version.

Riders early in their licence often struggle most with smooth take-offs rather than high-speed cornering, and the progressive spring's gradual build in resistance helps avoid the sudden surge that a flat-resistance throttle can produce from a nervous or inexperienced hand.
Preload Set Gentle, Firmed Up With Experience
The three external preload stages let a new rider start with a lighter setting while building confidence, then firm the spring up later as their riding develops, all without removing the housing or needing a workshop visit. Finding the right setting usually takes no more than a couple of fuel stops.
Billet Ergal Regardless of Power Output
This body is machined from solid Ergal 7075 whether it sits on a full-power 890 Duke or the restricted L, so build quality and long-term tolerance are identical across both versions of the bike. Most owners never see it, but every one of them benefits from it.
A Straightforward Path Back to Stock
If a rider later removes the power restriction and wants to reassess the stock throttle feel, or sells the bike before doing so, the factory throttle body refits cleanly with the usual ECU relearn of throttle position. It is one less thing to worry about when the time comes.
