DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport was the sportiest of the 1100 Scramblers, with suspension that invites brisk riding on winding back roads. Riding like that means repeated firm stops, and the front discs record them in their colour and surface. For the front wheel Accossato lists the DKS053 for the Scrambler 1100 Sport from 2018 to 2025: a floating disc with a black carrier and a 5.5 mm ring, fixed through five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm hole circle and, as Accossato states, interchangeable with the original discs.

Construction and Material Quality

On the DKS053 a 5.5 mm friction ring of 320 mm diameter floats on rivets attached to a black carrier. The carrier has a 72 mm centre and five fixing holes on a 90 mm circle. The floating mount lets the ring expand as it heats while the carrier stays true on the hub. Accossato puts the qualities of its discs down to racing experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and to its studies of the fit between ring and carrier. The minimum working thickness is marked on the disc.

Reading Heat Marks

After a spirited ride, the front discs of a Scrambler 1100 Sport show how hard they have worked. A light straw tint at the edge of the pad track is normal after enthusiastic riding. A deeper blue, sometimes in patches, shows that the ring has been very hot, and areas of a different shade can also mean that pad material has been deposited unevenly. That kind of deposit is often felt before it is seen, as a faint pulse at the lever during gentle stops.

Heat marks alone are not a reason for new discs, but they are a reason to look more closely. Measure the ring against the minimum thickness printed on it, check both discs for cracks, especially around the rivets and at the inner edge of the ring, and feel for grooves. If all is well, a series of firm stops with fresh pads can clean up light deposits. If a disc is worn, cracked or badly discoloured, replace it together with its partner on the other side. Accossato recommends new discs every thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or earlier when their condition calls for it.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives 2018 to 2025 for the DKS053 on the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport and names the Sport and the Sport Pro. The Scrambler 1100 Sport has two front discs, and the price is for one. At the rear, Accossato's DK008 is listed for this bike from 2018 to 2022.

Road Approval

There is no documented German ABE or type approval for the DKS053. We sell it for circuit riding and competition.
