DescriptionThe whole story▼
Enduro coaches have a favourite exercise, and it looks deceptively easy: ride a tight figure of eight on flat ground at walking pace, standing up, without putting a foot down. On a light two-stroke like the KTM 150 EXC it quickly shows who controls the bike with the clutch and who relies on the throttle alone. The C7283 is Accossato's clutch lever for the 150 EXC of 2020 and 2021: CNC-machined from Ergal 7075, drawn for four fingers, and hinged so the blade can fold forward when the bike tips over.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the KTM 150 EXC, 2020 and 2021
- Fits the original clutch mount in place of the standard lever
- Long blade for four fingers
- Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward rather than snap
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red, base finished dark
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The C7283 is made in Italy. Accossato, whose works are now in Villastellone near Turin, mills it on CNC machines from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy that lets the company aim for strength, reliability and low weight at once. There are two parts: a dark base on the clutch pivot, carrying the joint, and a blade in black, blue, orange or red that can fold forward on it. On the clutch side, Accossato draws the blade long enough for four fingers.
Figure Eights on a Training Day
The figure of eight is hard because it removes speed, and with it the stability that speed provides. To keep the bike upright at walking pace, a rider has to hold a steady amount of throttle, drag the rear brake lightly and use the clutch to control the drive, slipping it continuously so the rear wheel turns just fast enough. Riders who try it with the throttle alone find the bike lurching and stalling, and they put a foot down within a few turns.
Coaches use the exercise because it carries straight over to the trail: tight hairpins, slow rocky climbs, turns between trees. It also produces a lot of gentle tip-overs, often onto the left side, when a rider slips the clutch a fraction too much and the bike falls inwards. A training day can include dozens of them. On a solid lever those small falls add up, each one bending or scratching a little more, until something gives. The C7283's joint lets the blade fold forward at such moments, so it has a better chance of lasting through the session, and the season, on a 150 EXC.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 goes on the original clutch mount of the KTM 150 EXC and is listed by Accossato for 2020 and 2021 only. The B8283 folding brake lever is listed for the same two years. Both are available in black, blue and orange; red is reserved for the clutch lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. The 150 EXC is an enduro that can be registered for the road, yet this lever is not approved for use on public roads; it is intended for off-road riding and training.
Scope of Delivery
