DescriptionThe whole story▼
Winter is when many enduro riders train hardest and feel their hands least. On a Yamaha WR250F on a frosty morning, the front brake has to be worked through thick gloves by fingers that take half a lap to warm up, on ground that is frozen in one place and greasy in the next. Accossato's B8262 is a folding brake lever for the WR250F from 2005 to 2022, milled in Italy from Ergal 7075. Its joint gives the blade a chance to fold forward if the bike slides out on the ice.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Yamaha WR250F, 2005 to 2022
- Replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder
- Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward in a crash
- Short blade, sized for three fingers
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black, blue, gold or green on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Whichever of the four blade colours you pick, black, blue, gold or green, the material underneath is the same: Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy that Accossato machines from solid stock on CNC equipment in Italy. The company states its goals as strength, low weight and reliability. The coloured blade is one of two parts; the other is a dark base that sits on the master cylinder pivot and carries the folding joint. Accossato keeps the brake blade shorter than the clutch blade and designs it for three fingers.
Cold Hands, Thick Gloves
Cold changes braking in two ways. The ground offers less grip, especially where frost lingers in the shade or a frozen crust has thawed into slime, and your hands lose feel, so the difference between a firm squeeze and a locked front wheel becomes harder to judge. Riders on the WR250F adapt by braking earlier and more gently, sitting further back on descents and relying more on the rear brake and the engine. Thick winter gloves add bulk between finger and blade, which makes a lever that sits where the fingers naturally fall worth more than usual.
Frozen ground is also hard ground. A fall that summer soil would cushion lands on something closer to concrete, and levers suffer. With the B8262 fitted, the joint gives the blade the possibility of folding forward rather than snapping when it strikes a frozen rut. It does not make the lever immune, but it improves the odds of finishing the loop with a working front brake, which on a short winter afternoon, with darkness approaching, is a real comfort. Warm your hands before the first descent, and let the tyres find some grip before trusting the front.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8262 for the Yamaha WR250F across a long run of model years, 2005 to 2022, and it replaces the original lever on the stock front brake master cylinder. The folding C7165 clutch lever covers the same years. Gold is offered only on this brake lever; black, blue and green are available on both sides.
Road Approval
The B8262 carries no documented German ABE. If your WR250F is registered for the road, this lever is not approved for use on public roads; we offer it for off-road riding and competition.
