Matt, Not Gloss

Spark specifies a matt black ceramic treatment rather than a gloss one, and on this motorcycle that is the right call. The Speed 400 carries a good deal of black already — engine, frame rails, wheels — and a gloss silencer would have stood out against all of it as the only shiny black object.

Ceramic is bonded to the metal rather than sprayed onto it, so the hot end does not brown after a season the way high-temperature paint does.

What the Extra Buys

536 euro against 465 for the stainless GTR0601IOM. 71 euro, and the finish is the only difference — same case, same weight, same sound, same certificate.

On a bike in this class that is a real proportion of the price, so it is worth being clear that nothing else changes.

Two Point One Kilos Off a Small Roadster

3,5 kg becomes 1,4. Spark quotes a 60 per cent reduction and ties it to manoeuvrability, which on a 398 cc machine of around 176 kg is a claim you can feel rather than measure.

A Show Bike Wore This Silencer

Triumph chose the Evo5 for the Noisystyle special edition it unveiled at EICMA. Spark mentions it as confirmation that the silencer integrates with the motorcycle's design — and a manufacturer fitting an aftermarket exhaust to its own show bike does say something.

Sound Inside the Limit

Deeper and sportier, and inside the phonometric limits the Euro 5 regulation sets. Spark publishes a sound sample for the code so the note can be judged before ordering.

Keeping the Finish

Warm water and a soft cloth. Ceramic does not take abrasion: cutting polish and the harsher wheel cleaners remove material, and this is a surface with nothing to spare.

Which Speed 400

Spark lists the Triumph Speed 400 from 2024 onwards for this number. The Scrambler 400 X is a different silencer routing despite the shared platform, so tell us the exact model with your order and we will check it against Spark's data first.

Made in Italy

Spark builds in Mantova and applies the ceramic treatment there too. On a coated part that is worth knowing — a finish is only as consistent as the process control behind it, and a bought-in coating is harder to hold to a standard.
