A Choice of Finish
Three anodised options rather than one. On a motorcycle with almost no bodywork, the components on the bar are unusually visible and the colour decision carries more weight than it would elsewhere.
Housing and Contacts Together
The right-hand switches live inside the throttle housing. This component renews both from a single billet, plugged into Ducati's own connector.
Nine Hundred and Thirty-Seven Cubic Centimetres
Ducati enlarged the 821 for Euro 4 and gained torque without losing anything. It is the engine that went on to carry the Multistrada 950, the SuperSport and the Monster 937.
Sealed Elements
Contacts enclosed within the machined body. Ingress rather than wear is what ends switchgear on a bike that is washed as often as a supermoto.
A Cut Bore
The throttle tube turns in a machined bore, which keeps the rotation clean long after a moulded housing has developed play against the grip.
Ergal 7075
Aerospace grade at roughly double the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a bike that gets laid down as part of ordinary use, that is a practical benefit.
Brembo M4.32
Monobloc calipers on a motorcycle weighing 181 kilograms wet. The braking capacity is far beyond what the chassis needs, which on a supermoto is exactly right.
Three Model Years
Ducati built the 939 briefly before the 950 arrived. It is the least discussed Hypermotard and, by a good many accounts, the best balanced of the three.
Original Connector
Pre-wired, so nothing is cut into the harness. Nothing needs coding and nothing appears on the dashboard afterwards.
