Euro 4 and Side Exhausts
Ducati enlarged the 899 to 955 cc and moved the exhaust to the side to meet Euro 4. It was not universally admired visually and it produced 157 hp, which nobody complained about.
Nine Hundred and Fifty-Five Cubic Centimetres
The middleweight Superquadro's final capacity, reached by lengthening the stroke rather than widening an already extreme bore. Torque improved noticeably and the engine kept its willingness to rev.
The Frameless Middleweight
Like the 899 before it, the 959 used the airbox as a structural monocoque with no conventional frame at all. It remains an unusual thing to find on a motorcycle at this price.
Just the Housing
The switch block is untouched. This replaces the throttle assembly for owners whose switchgear works and who want the cockpit improved without changing anything electrical.
Where Precision Is Read
The 959 is ride-by-wire, so the housing holds a position sensor. A bore cut on a machine reports the same angle for the same wrist movement year after year; a moulded one gradually does not.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the aluminium. A scuff dulls the surface rather than exposing bright metal underneath a chipped coating.
Aerospace Grade
Ergal 7075 has roughly twice the yield strength of the alloys used in most machined accessories and costs correspondingly more to cut. On a clamped component it is the right choice.
Where the Original Loosens
Moulded housings are held together with clips. Those lose tension across years of vibration, and the resulting movement at the grip is the thing owners notice long before anything breaks.
