The JP CJP 012B is the programmable control unit listed for the Monster 1200, plugged into the motorcycle's own connectors with nothing written to the original electronics.

The Big Testastretta
Ducati put the eleven degree engine in the Monster and gave it a torque curve that starts working from three thousand and never really stops.
Why It Costs More Than the Module
The cheaper unit ships with a curve somebody else worked out. This one ships empty and expects an owner with software, a plan and preferably somewhere to measure the result.
Firmware
JetPrime issue updates through the same software. They are infrequent and worth applying before starting a long mapping project rather than in the middle of one.
Not a Standard-Bike Product
An unmodified motorcycle with the factory exhaust has no use for a programmable map. The manufacturer says as much by listing racing modifications as the reason.
At a Race Meeting
Conditions change between practice and the race. A programmable unit lets the map follow them, which is the entire argument for this over a fixed curve.
A Season to Finish
Realistic for an owner working alone on roads. Anybody expecting a finished map by Sunday evening has bought the wrong product for their patience.
The Laptop in the Paddock
Somewhere dry, charged and with the cable already attached to the motorcycle. Mapping between sessions is the point of this unit and it needs a working bench.
On a Four
Smoother by nature, which hides small errors and makes methodical measurement more important. What cannot be felt still shows on a wideband.
When It Is Finished
When another session produces no change you can measure and none you can feel. Beyond that point the work is a hobby rather than an improvement, which is a perfectly good reason to continue.
