The JP CJP 044B is the programmable control unit listed for the K 1300 GT, plugged into the motorcycle's own connectors with nothing written to the original electronics.

The Fast Tourer
Shaft drive, a large fairing and an engine that pulls from anywhere. The GT was BMW's answer to covering a continent quickly rather than comfortably.
Where a Wideband Sensor Comes In
The standard oxygen sensor only reports whether the mixture is near stoichiometric. Anybody mapping seriously needs a wideband, because otherwise the numbers being entered are guesses.
Reading the Result
A wideband display or a logged file tells you what the mixture actually did. Without one, mapping is an exercise in changing numbers and hoping.
A Surface, Not a Line
A fixed curve corrects along one dimension. A map corrects across two, which is what makes it possible to richen full load without touching the cruise cells.
The Two Units Compared
One arrives finished and asks nothing. This one arrives empty and asks for a wideband, a laptop and several evenings. Neither is better; they answer different questions.
Keeping Notes
Which map, which exhaust, which fuel, which date. Six months later that record is the difference between improving a map and starting again.
Winter Storage
No current is drawn with the ignition off and nothing needs disconnecting. The map stays in the unit over a layup exactly as it was written.
Against the Preset Module
That one is finished when it arrives and cannot be improved. This one arrives empty and has no ceiling except the owner's patience.
Two Configurations, Two Files
Road silencer and race can, pump petrol and race fuel, summer and winter. Each combination deserves its own map, and switching between them takes less than a minute once they exist.
