A Genuine Alternative to the V4
Lighter, cheaper and easier to manage, with most of the capability. Owners who have ridden both frequently conclude the V2S is the more sensible motorcycle.
Not a Performance Part
Nothing changes about power, throttle response or consumption. The gains are a tidier engine and one fewer perishable component.
Why Both Halves Are Needed
Unplugging the solenoid alone stores a fault; blanking the head alone leaves the lamp on. Only the pair produces a clean result.
Type Approval
In markets where the equipment is part of the motorcycle's approval, removing it puts the machine outside road use until it is refitted.
The Panel Argument
A stored fault mask other faults behind it, which is the practical reason not to leave a solenoid simply unplugged.
Why Not Just Unplug It
The controller notices immediately and stores a fault, which then sits on the panel masking anything else that might appear later.
Keep the Original Parts
Bag both with their fasteners and label the bag. Refitting takes an evening with nothing needing replacement, and the person who eventually needs them may well not be you.
The Mechanical Half in Detail
A cover machined from solid with its sealing groove cut in the same operation, closing the head's ports on an O-ring against the factory machined face. No jointing compound, no gasket to destroy on removal and nothing inside it that ages.
The Argument Against Doing It At All
A working secondary air system costs nothing, does no harm and keeps the motorcycle in road specification everywhere it is sold. On a newer machine with sound reeds that is a genuinely reasonable position, and this kit is aimed at the owners for whom it no longer applies.
